So yesterday, I went to cinemas aiming to watch 'Life As We Know It' or 'Easy A' oblivious to the fact that there might have been a better choice available until my cousin/bff/movie partner suggested 'Africa United'. Initially it was all laughs & giggles as the characters were gradually introduced. The story sees three penniless Rwandan children take off across Africa on a mission to get to the 2010 World Cup, where one of them has been selected to appear in the opening ceremony.
An irksome yet endearing back-drop that gambols from HIV clinic to perilous jungle and from child soldiers to sex tourists. All the while, the kids just keep on smiling, tackling all manner of horrors with extrovert am-dram stylings and metaphorical swigs of Sunny Delight. Not to mention the catchy soundtracks to go along, I beg you to come out of it dry eyed!
In my opinion it's easily the 'Movie Of The Year'!
